TIDE NOTE #02
This week felt like a mix of small, ordinary things : new ideas coming to life, jewellery laid out on my desk, the smell of freshly baked bread in the kitchen, and a splash of pink paint drying on Addy’s little house project. Gentle everyday moments that made the week feel more alive again.

I finally found a couple of minutes to write a little bit about my days , what happened in the past week.
Well, not much 😅 ..
I’m still slowly recovering. But I’ve finally been able to do a few more things around the house and walk a little farther than last week.
I got an order again from Clevedon Pier, the beautiful gift shop where we usually sell some of our jewellery. I’ve been making some pieces exclusively for the shop for two years now, and I still feel incredibly grateful for this partnership. I was really glad when they messaged me again. I am always happy when they do.
Actually I had a feeling they’d contact me for new stock while I was recovering, so I’m glad I listened to that little intuition and made all the jewellery for them before my surgery. It meant I didn’t have to work while resting. I’m getting better and gaining more energy every day, but still not enough strength to sit behind my work desk for long and create new designs.
Anyway, back to the jewellery, I’ve had an idea about how to display the pieces on the cards for a while.
the process

I really wanted to feature some of my beach photos (the places where we collect the sea glass) and I already had this translucent paper I love using in the packaging. I thought it would be perfect for a “see-through” middle part, with a photo card behind it.

I’ll make more with other locations as well

As you can guess: The torn paper edge represents the waves (they really do look like that!), and the photo behind it shows the spot where we collect the sea glass. I wanted to design something that would be perfect for gifting, so I added some lovely beach-themed phrases like “To my safe harbour” or “To my anchor,” etc. to the front with a little gift message

On the back, I left space for the customer to write a note to the recipient.

Originally, the design had just the torn translucent paper and the photo separately, but since the light paper couldn’t hold the jewellery, and the thicker translucent version lost that dreamy see-through look, I had to rethink it. Then I realised I could simply place the photo card right behind the front layer and tie them together so the photo paper will help hold the delicate front in place.

Later on the week Chris drove me to drop off the jewellery, and I showed the new design to the lovely retail coordinator at the Pier and she loved them! I was so happy.
Such beautiful location!

I’m really curious to see which sells faster: the Narrative Charms with meaning cards, or the new pieces featuring the Pier and gift messages. Hopefully both and maybe they’ll help each other visually, making the whole display more eye-catching. Fingers crossed!

The rest of the week was quite slow , just like the one before which you can READ HERE if you haven’t done it yet. I won’t write all the details, but I’d love to highlight a few moments from the weekend.
Addy made a tiny envelope while I was making cards from leftover paper scraps, and she came up with the idea of building a little house where she could post her letters through the letter box. So after I finished my cards, I helped her bring the vision to life.

She painted it a lovely soft pink, and I printed the inside design for her. We still have a few finishing touches to add to the outside, but so far it looks lovely.

We also baked a fresh homemade bread for breakfast. I have such a good recipe.. So Easy and quick. I usually mix the ingredients in the evening, leave it in the fridge overnight, and bake it in the morning. Perfect everytime! Let me know in the comments if you’d like me to share the recipe!

When I was cooking lunch, we turned on some music and Addy decided to do a “fashion show,” trying on all my clothes. It reminded me so much of my childhood. I used to love doing the same. (I’m sure I’m not the only one 😅). My mum kept all her big coats in a cupboard just outside my room, and I remember the excitement of trying them on, imagining what it would be like to be grown up.

Well, I guess that wish came true. Looking back now, I think I became an adult much faster than I should have. To a kid, time always feels so slow and suddenly you wake up in your mid-thirties (ish).
Sigh..time flies!
Anyway, I managed to bring my camera on one of my walks and to the farm shop when we visited again. I won’t post the photos from inside the shop yet as I’m waiting to hear back about permission but I thought I could share the outdoor ones here, along with some from my walks.
Pumpkin time!

This is my favourite season and I am usually fully booked with photoshoots throughout October, so I don’t have much spare time enjoying the leaves for myself, but this year I couldn’t advertise my usual autumn mini photography session, since I wasn’t sure how I’d feel after surgery. So I don’t have any sessions booked for this month, which means I can at least enjoy taking photos of nature. However a few people found me anyway (so thankful for that!) and I’m looking forward to those sessions already in the next month. If the weather stays nice and dry, I might even open a few last-minute appointments for late November. We’ll see!
So that’s my little update for now.
Looking back, this week was really about those three things : jewellery, bread, and pink paint. None of it loud or remarkable, but that’s what made it special. These tiny things always stitch themselves into the loveliest memories, and they end up meaning the most later on.
Note:
As I’m writing this, the house is full of laughter and footsteps running around. Chris and Addy are playing and chasing each other with the leftover balloons from my birthday. One of the things I love most about being grown-up is seeing her laughter and knowing we’re quietly filling her childhood with little moments she’ll remember.
♡♡♡♡

So I’ll put my phone down for now. Even if I can’t run around like they do just yet, I can watch them at least and fill up my heart with these memories too.
Hope you’re having a lovely weekend, just like we are.
P.S. I got this lovely “nose décor” from my daughter as a sign of her appreciation for me for joining in. 💛 😅
It’s ridiculous on me, obviously, but it probably stays for the rest of the day. Don’t ask.

Thanks for reading along. Till another tide note drifts ashore,
Bernadette
